My desire to find

a special site

Belle-Île-en-Mer is the largest of the Breton islands and, after Corsica, the second largest of the mainland islands! With breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, four communes that reflect the island’s many faces, the GR®340 hiking trail, a paradise for walkers, and proud, genuine, authentic islanders

Belle-Île is served all year round from Quiberon, and in season from the Gulf of Morbihan or Loire-Atlantique.

How will you discover this exceptional region?

Belle-Ile, a land of hiking

Belle-Ile, an unspoilt island

Located 17 km off the coast of Quiberon Bay, Belle-Ile-en-Mer is a hiker’s paradise between sky, sea and high cliffs, very popular with walkers.
Hiking along the 85 km of coastal paths on the largest and most hilly of Brittany’s islands is a real pleasure 😍

If you decide to embark on this exceptional adventure, keep in mind these few tips that will help preserve Belle-Ile and allow you to continue enjoying it as it is. 🍃
Before you leave, make sure you have booked your accommodation, as camping is strictly prohibited on Belle-Ile!
We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that, since 20 June 2022, walking sticks with spikes have been banned along the entire coastal path. This does not prohibit the use of walking sticks without spikes or with caps!

Below you will find everything you need to prepare for your hike!

A lively island all year round

The 4 seasons of the island

It's winter

Belle-Ile in Winter… quiet days

Some people prefer to discover Belle-Ile in winter. They’re not wrong to want to appreciate the island in its true form, stripped of all the trappings. This is the best season to experience the reality of island life with serenity, taking your time. The beaches, coastlines and almost deserted paths form vast landscapes that are all the more impressive because, on certain days, storms transform them into black and white…

It's autumn

Autumn or Indian summer on Belle-Ile-en-Mer

On the wild coast, as near Port Kerlédan, at the Aiguilles de Port Coton, at Baluden and at the Pointe du Skeul, the clumps of oval-leaved Statica foliage take on red tones, bringing out the grey of the rocky plateau. Often mixed with Statica, its umbels turn red, and Sea Fennel also takes on its autumn colours…

It's spring

Blue, white and pink, spring on Belle-île

An impression of transparency, a sudden softness in the air, the polyphony of birds, the cliffs coming to life: it’s spring. Suddenly, there’s a longing to revisit familiar places as winter draws to a close. You want to be everywhere at once, to savour the emotion and wonder of nature as it awakens…

It's summer

Summer at last on Belle-Ile-en-Mer

From mid-June onwards, you can feel the hustle and bustle building up. In the villages, people are putting the finishing touches to shop windows, rushing off to carry out final works, the markets are getting busier, the harbours and coves are filling up with boats and people are getting ready for the summer. This summer, “Let’s only take photos, Let’s only leave footprints”, let’s put the 5 summer challenges into practice!
