Would you please introduce yourself?

I was born in Nantes, near the port, and I have always lived in the city, I like the animation of Palais where I live in the heart of the city. Clinical psychologist by training, I have also had associative commitments (President of the Tourist Office from March 2000 in the middle of “Erika” to March 2003) and also elective for 20 years. For the past 7 years, I have dedicated myself to the Lyric Festival as a volunteer and President from 2017 to 2021.

How did you become a full-fledged inhabitant?

My first contact with Belle-île was in 1972 for a one month stay in Sauzon with our first child and it was love at first sight, we thought “why not?”. But it was only 10 years later that we were able to live on Belle-île, thanks to my husband’s installation as a doctor, after 10 years spent in the Orne.

What do you like best about Belle-Ile?

Perfection is not of this world, even if Belle-Ile is a real cocoon! Its nature, full, powerful and safeguarded, makes it an absolute jewel. Far from a certain form of continental or urban frenzy, Belle-Île soothes me. But be careful not to go round in circles! Being able to escape from time to time makes it easier to come back. But what I like most of all is the light here, the light in which we bathe with the presence of the sea. The light envelops you like the music. There is something spiritual here.

What is your daily “eco-gesture” to preserve Belle-Île?

Rigorously sorting, reducing my waste and saving water – I was marked by the water shortage in 1989.

What is your secret place on Belle-île?

It’s at home in my house in Le Palais, between the ever-living port and the church that offers me its stained glass windows. And, the place I like to come back to is between the Apothicairerie and Ster-Ouen, the perspective view on the Poulains lighthouse is quite unique.

Your advice to visitors of a day as well as those of a lifetime?

To the visitors of a day, I will tell them: to take the time to live against the grain, do the market at 8am, swim at noon and leave the beach at 4pm! Belle-île is surprising. Whatever the place, it is a perpetual renewal and wonder. If you are discovering Belle-île for the first time: enjoy a seafood platter with spiders and tour Belle-île…and you will want to come back.

For those of a lifetime, it would be: that it is a privilege to be able to settle on Belle-île. The island exudes a powerful appeal to me but it takes some taming. I am always grateful to live there.

What is your favorite season?

All of them! With a soft spot for spring with its light and carpets of artemia on the wild coast.
