Top 3 "Feel good" terraces

Farniente…Do nothing, let yourself be carried away by a sweet idleness. That’s the watchword of the vacations to enjoy the sun and sea air of Belle-Ile, the largest of the islands in Brittany! With a view of the Pointe des Poulains, the port of Sauzon or facing the unforgettable landscape painted by Claude Monet, the Needles of Port Coton, discover our selection of 3 favorite terraces with breathtaking views to cut through the daily routine!

To the West Bistrozza

1 clubhouse facing Pointe des Poulains

After a golf course or following a nice hike on the coastal path GR 340, take a break in this breathtaking setting facing the Poulains golf course with the ocean in sight.

We like to have a drink on the terrace of the bistro-pizzeria A l’Ouest (where the name Bistrozza comes from) and watch the sunset show over the golf course. As the sun decreases, the light rays color the ocean and the sky, which take on wonderful ochre, pink and mauve hues.

The cuisine is based on Belle-Île products (Chocolaterie la Palantine, fromagerie Pilou, the rotisserie L’eau à la bouche, vegetables from Jardins de Kerzo, Kre Kabell’s mushrooms, Bières de la Morgat) and always in a friendly atmosphere!

In the evening, many tapas to share and nibble with friends are offered: cold cuts, hot tapas, marinated or stuffed vegetables, Manchego cheese…

New this year 2021: succulent and original pizzas to be tasted on the spot. If you choose to have a pizza delivered, it will be in a recycled and compostable box.

A mythical address!

Hôtel du Phare in Sauzon

Have a drink to the sound of the gentle lapping of the waves on the terrace at the foot of the lighthouse with a breathtaking view of the port of Sauzon.

The terrace is bathed in light and warmth, caressed by a little wind with the small green lighthouse on the right.

The location is first class with a splendid view on the port of Sauzon.

The plate of regional inspiration is up to the frame. It’s starred chef Laurent Clément, a Belle-Ile native, who has taken over the direction of the kitchen at the Hotel du Phare. His culinary creations are both simple and tasty.

He had earned a Michelin Guide star in 2009 at the restaurant “Le Georges” in Chartres.

The menu gives pride of place to seafood and local seasonal and Belle-Ile products. The seasonality of products is very important to him, he has also written two recipe books, the latest of which “Cooking is Seasonal” honors the respect of the rhythms of nature through 120 recipes.

The restaurant’s two interior rooms, on the first floor and second floor, offer a modern design with a friendly brasserie atmosphere.

And why not end the evening with a stroll along the docks of Sauzon.

Le Marie-Galante, restaurant of the Hotel Le Grand Large

at the Aiguilles de Port-Coton

Just a stone’s throw from the Aiguilles de Port Coton, every Friday, starting at 6pm, enjoy one of the best places to watch the sunset, to the lounge rhythm of a DJ. Enjoy fresh and vitaminized cocktails, a selection of wines and champagnes, all accompanied by tapas and sunny cuisine.

Walking from Le Grand Large hotel, reach in 5 minutes the Aiguilles de Port Coton, a must-see place on the island. There you can contemplate the beauty of its needle-shaped rocks. By the way, the name Aiguilles de Port Coton comes from the whipped foam that, in heavy weather, forms large cotton-like flakes.

You can also reach the Grand Phare de Goulphar in 20 minutes on foot through the wandering heather moorland forming a plant association unique in Europe: wandering heathers mix with maritime gorse whose yellow flowers smell like coconut.

From the Grand Phare, look at the island from another angle at 92m above the waves after climbing 247 steps. Enjoy a breathtaking 360° view over the Belliloise countryside to the ocean.

There are rays of happiness in the sunrise and sunset ” by Jean Gastaldi, The Little Book of Happiness.
