On Sunday February 28, 1943, 437 planes took off from England towards St Nazaire to bomb the submarine base. Returning from this mission, the Wellington III BK 343 ZL-V bomber was shot down over the island and fell at Ster Vraz. 4 airmen were killed, one fell into the sea and was not found and the last was taken prisoner by the German army. A tribute will be paid on September 30 on the beach of Ster Vraz. The population of Belle Ile is invited to this ceremony in the presence of families...
