Around excerpts from the play by Yannis Ritsos: old women and the sea. Monteverdi, Caccini, Falla, Granados, Ravel As if nothing was missing, musical theater, is a show composed of excerpts from the play by Yannis Ritsos the old women and the sea (1959) translation Bruno Roy, Fata Morgana editions. Four women, an actress, an actress soprano, and two musicians talk about the condition of women on the shore of a Greek island: love, the sea, absence, motherhood, transmission, waiting, silence and death but also the poetry of everyday life and the underlying power of memory and consciousness. The instrumental and lyrical music, echoing this subject like Monteverdi's lemento d'Ariane, is borrowed from the Mediterranean repertoire of Caccini or Monteverdi in Falla, Granados or Ravel (popular Greek melodies) for voice, cello, piano and harpsichord. The scenography of the painter Jean-Pierre Schneider develops from the painting of large jars and maritime images a symbolic vision of Greece where each of us can find ourselves in the shadow of the great myths that inspired Yannis Ritsos.
