Plage de Donnant

A surf and body-board spot! Donner Beach is undoubtedly one of the island's great natural sites. A set of dunes with the cove of more than 350 meters, facing due West which opens onto the sea. It is one of the most beautiful spots for surfing, but above all for body boarding, in Brittany. Supervised in July and August in an area delimited by two blue flags, you have to stay in the middle, because there are treacherous currents towards the rocks on either side. At low tide the children have fun in the many basins left by the sea, at high tide, the beach is cut in two by an enormous rock. Two accesses are possible: Bangor side, via Petit-Cosquet or Sauzon side, via the menhir Jean. In both cases, parking at the top of the rocks and dunes and access by the path. A 40-meter-high rear dune The rear dune, which extends a kilometer inland, measures, in some places, more than forty meters in height. These fragile sand buildings are characterized by a great diversity of plants, sometimes rare, such as the dune immortelle. Widely used in dried bouquets, hence its name, it gives off a strong smell of saffron in the sun. Or the “pompons of the dunes”, a plant of Mediterranean origin which has become acclimatized there.
