Chicago 1896. Wild west legend Calamity Jane makes a living telling her story in a seedy theater and battles her demons. Sarah Bernhardt, legend of French theatre, on a triumphal tour of America, is looking for a role that suits her and is suited to her fragile health. His manager whispers to him that the role he needs is that of Calamity. The two legends will meet at Marge's saloon, where their adventurous lives come to dinner with them. These pioneers of freedom have broken the codes, allied celibacy and motherhood, career and innovation, private life and public image.
